my why

Boo & Bo

When designing Michigan Southern Charm I knew I wanted this to be a business that helped make a difference by doing what I love. Rescue is a huge part of my life and something that I am truly passionate about. A few years ago I came across an AWFUL, AWFUL video of a festival in China called the Yulin Festival where they take animals from their homes or off the street and torture, scare, abuse, skin, and boil dogs and cats alive for pleasure. After seeing this horrible video it lit a fire in me to help raise awareness of animal abuse and find a way to make it stop. The truth is there are millions of animals in shelters around the world today and the worst part is most don’t make it out alive. Millions of innocent animals just trying to find their fur-ever home.

When I was looking to get a dog I knew I wanted one from a shelter. A dog that nobody wanted because they were too old. Eventually, I came across Bo & Boo. Not only were my babies severely abused by their past owners but they both were on the list to be euthanized. Now looking back I don’t know who saved who. These two have brought so much joy into my life and it breaks my heart to see people abusing their animals or abandoning them. It’s something I will never understand.

The Bo & Boo Foundation – A cause for paws is the Michigan Southern Charm pet line. For every item that is pet-related that is purchased, part of the proceeds will go to help animals in need. Please help us save these animals and help make a difference. If you’re looking for a dog or cat please adopt. If you can’t adopt but still want to help there are many ways to help. You can adopt, volunteer, donate, or foster.

+ Saving one animal will not change the world, but surely for that one animal, the world will change FOREVER!! +

xoxo, Ashley

their story

Get to know Boo Boo and Bo Bo

Where to even begin? Both of my fur babies were on the list to be euthanized at a kill shelter down in Kentucky. Yes, unfortunately, kill shelters are still a thing in today’s world. Bo was rescued in 2015 and we rescued Boo at the beginning of 2016. Both my fur babies are the sweetest thing ever and just love to be cuddled and loved.

Bo was rescued from a kill shelter down south in 2015. He is the sweetest boy and follows his mama everywhere. He is literally at my feet at all times. After we got Bo Bo we took him to our local groomer and she noticed he had bumps all over his stomach and private area. We took him to the vet and later on found out that while he was in Kentucky someone had shot him with a shotgun full of BBs. It literally breaks my heart that someone would do that to an animal and I will never understand why.

  • Loves his mama and is always by her side
  • Black Lab Hound
  • Loves to go for walks and car rides
  • Sleeps on the bed next to his mama.
  • Rescued in 2015
  • Bo passed away on July 17th, 2023. He is now in heaven and is his mama’s angel.

Boo Boo was rescued at the beginning of 2016 from the same kill shelter as Bo Bo in Kentucky. Boo was a year and a half old when we rescued her. Boo was hit by a car before we rescued her and her previous owners left her back leg broken. Boo’s left back leg is permanently broken in 17 places (we call it her kickstand). Once we got Boo home we took her all over Michigan to highly recommended surgeons to make sure she wasn’t in any pain. They told us she will be fine and to keep an eye on it over the years.

  • Loves her mama but is very independent
  • Boo is a mix of everything – Huskey, Rot, Bull Mastiff, Shar Pei
  • Loves to go for walks
  • Loves her toys. Always has a toy in her mouth.
  • Rescued in 2016
